Basketball players from Sokal will represent the Lviv region at the all-Ukrainian school leagues among girls in grades 9-11.
The final competitions of the regional stage of school basketball leagues took place at the Galichina sports palace on May 26-27. Eight teams participated, having won at the school, territorial, and district stages. Among them were students from Zhydachiv School of General Education I-III degrees No. 1, Nizhankovychi School of General Education I-III degrees, OZZSO I-III degrees No. 2 named after Hryhoriy Tyutyunnyk, Rohiznian School of General Education I-III degrees, Secondary School No. 3 of Truskavets, Pliuhiv School of General Education, Sokal School of General Education I-III degrees No. 4, and Secondary School No. 54.
The winners were: 1st place — Sokal School of General Education I-III degrees No. 4, 2nd place — Rohiznian School of General Education I-III degrees, 3rd place — Zhydachiv School of General Education I-III degrees No. 1.
“The winners of the regional stage of the school leagues will compete in the national stage of the project, which will take place in June in Rivne. There will be four teams from the Lviv region in different categories,” said Roman Khimyak, director of the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
The Lviv region will be represented at the national stage by: girls grades 5-9 — Secondary School No. 32 (team “Grindy”), boys grades 5-9 — Gymnasium No. 12, girls grades 9-11 — Sokal School of General Education I-III degrees No. 4, boys grades 9-11 — School No. 1 of the Lviv City Council.
