In the regular season of the Major League Basketball, BC Sambir finished second to Prometheus from Slobozhanske, reaching the Final Eight. Apart from their defeat by Prometheus, the Sambir team lost only twice to other teams, winning 25 out of 30 matches.
The decisive part of the season, the Final Eight, took place on April 19-21 in Kyiv. The Sambir team first defeated the Kyiv-based Push Team-DTEU with a score of 86:58, then beat Niko-Basket from Mykolaiv 89:75 to reach the final.
In the final, the Lviv region’s basketball team lost to the regular season leader, Slobozhansky Prometheus, 40-106, winning silver medals in the Major League.
“Sambir played on equal terms with the favorite until the middle of the second quarter. The teams went into the break with Prometheus leading by 11 points, but in the second half the team from Slobozhansk completely dominated the court and won,” the Sambir BC Facebook page says.
It should be added that the award for the best center of the Major League went to Sambir’s Oleksiy Adediran, who in 31 games of the season had 15.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
