The XII European Cheerleading Championships – ICU EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 – took place in Norway on 28-30 June. The Ukrainian team won 5 gold medals. Athletes and coaches from the Lviv region contributed to three of the awards.
For the second year in a row, the youth team in the freestyle discipline (YOUTH POM TEAM) and the junior team in the jazz category (JUNIOR JAZZ TEAM) won. This year’s youth team consists of 12 Lviv girls: eleven from the Lviv Angels club and one from Nancy Dolls. The junior team consists of 6 Lviv Angels skaters.
In the Pom Doubles category, Anastasiia Maloshenko (Lviv Angels) and Yelyzaveta Tymofieieva (Prometey, Kamianske) became European champions in the adult freestyle duo category, also for the second time. This victory earned Ukraine a licence for the 2025 World Games, where cheerleading will make its debut. European teams were the first to compete for the licence. Thanks to the success of our duo, Ukraine received the first historic licence for the World Games.
We would like to add that among the representatives of the Lviv Angels club who played for the Ukrainian national team are also pupils of the Dmytro Obbarius Children’s and Youth Sports School and the Dmytro Sydoruk Children’s and Youth Sports School.
We also have women among the national team’s coaches. Natalia Blazhko, president of the Lviv Regional Cheerleading Federation and head of the Lviv Angels club, is the head coach of the youth team and one of the coaches of the duo and the junior team. Lviv Angels coaches Anastasiia Maloshenko and Yuliana Kurakina trained the junior national team.

“Cheerleading is a sport that has been developing very well in the Lviv region in recent years.
Recently, the finals of the largest student competition in Ukraine, the Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues, took place, and it was the team from the Ivan Puluy Lviv Lyceum that won the final stage of the competition,” said Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
