A team of athletes from the Drohobych territorial community took part in the international wushu tournament “15th Spring Dragon Wushu Open International Tournament”, which took place on April 10-15 in Catanzaro (southern Italy). The competition was attended by about 500 participants from 15 European countries.
The athletes competed in different age categories, starting from 6 years old, and in different sections: contact fights in light and full contact, sword fights, sports complexes of formal exercises with different types of sports weapons, traditional complexes of formal exercises of different directions of wushu, kungfu, recreational gymnastics with elements of applied technique.
The athletes of the Drohobych team, Maksym Kuzmych, Volodymyr Kunytskyi and Kyrylo Suprunenko, competed in the age categories of “boys” and “juniors”.
According to the results of the competition, Kuzmych Maksym won in one of the sections, and in the second section he lost to an athlete from Georgia, as a result of which he took 1st place and 2nd place.
Volodymyr Kunitskiy performed in three sections of the standard program, where he became the absolute champion, taking 1st place in each section.
Suprunenko Kirill, in the boys’ category, took two first places and one 2nd place, losing to an athlete from Germany.
Participation in international competitions of this rank is an invaluable experience that gives athletes more self-confidence, a desire to train and prove themselves, become stronger and more motivated.
