Pupils of the SDYUSHOR “Medyk” sports school performed successfully at the Ukrainian Road Cycling Championship, which took place from 17 to 20 September in Bila Tserkva. A total of 180 athletes in 24 teams from various regions of the country took part in the competition.
The team from the Drohobych district demonstrated a high level of preparation and won a total of 5 medals — one gold, two silver and two bronze. The results of the athletes’ performance were reported during a meeting at Drohobych City Council by the Head of the Education Department, Petro Shev’yak.
In the junior category, Artur Stetsiv distinguished himself by winning two silver medals: 2nd place in the individual time trial over a distance of 15 km and 2nd place in the team time trial over 25 km.
Among the boys, Pavlo Koval and Vladyslav Mendliar delivered strong performances. Pavlo Koval achieved the following results: 4th place in the 15 km individual time trial, 9th place in the 25 km team time trial and 10th place in the 20 km two-man event. Vladyslav Mendliar finished ninth in the 25 km team time trial and eleventh in the 20 km two-man event.
The team classification was a key component of this success. The juniors of the Drohobych team won a gold medal, while the boys claimed two bronze medals. Thus, the cyclists of SDYUSHOR “Medyk” returned from the national championship with an impressive haul — five medals and valuable experience of competing at national level.
