Lutsk hosted two Ukrainian Judo Championships at once — for athletes under 23 and for boys and girls under 15. On the tatami of the Volyn Regional Children and Youth Sports School, representatives from all regions of the country met in competition.
The national championships for athletes under 23 were held on 16–17 September with the participation of 396 judokas. The tournament also served as a qualifying event to form the Ukrainian national team for the U23 European Championships, which will take place in early November in Naples (Italy).
The Ukrainian Championships for boys and girls under 15 were held in Lutsk on 17–19 September. More than 500 competitors took part, contesting medals in 17 weight categories.
The Lviv region team claimed two honours in the U15 category at these competitions. Melaniia Matiukha took second place in the up to 63 kg weight category, while Myroslava Kisova finished third in the up to 57 kg division.
Melaniia Matiukha represents the Lion sports club and the Lviv Professional Sports College, and is coached by Vladyslav Drebot. Myroslava Kisova practises judo at LODYUSSH Olimpiia, where her coach is Oleksandr Korchemliuk.
