In individual épée competitions, 16-year-old Alina Dmytruk claimed the gold medal. In the same category, Ksenia Panteleeva took third place, and Anna Maksymenko made it to the top-8.
The athletes met in the semi-final stage of the tournament, and Alina won with a score of 15:9. Before that, Dmytruk defeated two participants of the 2024 Olympics: in the round of 16 — European Games champion Joanne Fahey Bezhura (15:6), and in the quarterfinals — European champion Vlada Kharkova (15:12).
Interestingly, Ksenia Panteleeva, upon the instruction of their mutual coach, gave Alina valuable advice in the final against Inna Brovko, which ended with a score of 15:12, — noted in the Ukrainian Fencing Federation.
Moreover, recently Alina Dmytruk and Anna Maksymenko returned from China, where they became world champions among juniors in the team épée event. Prior to that, Dmytruk also won individual “silver” among athletes under 17 years, — recalls Roman Khymyak, director of the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Alina Dmytruk, Ksenia Panteleeva, and Anna Maksymenko are representatives of the regional “School of Higher Sportsmanship” and the FST “Dynamo”. The fencers are trained under the guidance of Ukraine’s esteemed coaches Andriy Orlikovsky and Zoryana Semyriak.
