
Iryna Mukha became the winner of the international Taekwondo competition at the Balkan Open Cup 2025 tournament.
The tournament took place on November 22–23 in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia, gathering 689 athletes from 17 European countries. This tournament is a ranking event for black belt holders and affects the ranking formation for the 2026 European Championships, which will be held in Maribor, Slovenia.
Ukraine was represented by over 50 athletes from the “Solovey team” club and the national Taekwondo union, showcasing one of the best performances of the season. The athlete from the Lviv region, Iryna Mukha, won two medals: gold in sparring in the under 50 kg category among adults and silver in patterns among adults.
“Ukraine was ranked top-5 in the overall medal standings of this competition, taking fourth place. Our team has a total of 37 medals, including 13 gold, 10 silver, and 14 bronze”, said Roman Khimyak, Director of the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
