
Ivan Zalisko became the runner-up at the European U17 Freestyle Wrestling Championship.
The competition took place in Skopje, North Macedonia, from June 9 to 15, gathering over 500 participants from 36 European countries. Ukraine was represented by 30 wrestlers, including Ivan Zalisko and Oleksandra Malkova from Lviv region.
Ivan Zalisko won a silver medal in the 65 kg weight category, coming short in a tense final. The Ukrainian men’s team secured second place in the team standings, winning five medals: two gold and three silver.
“Congratulations to Ivan Zalisko and his coaches Vitalii Borysenko and Rostyslav Pervachuk. The athlete will receive 30,000 hryvnias for the championship silver, while his coaches will receive 7,500 hryvnias each,” said Roman Khimyak, director of the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
The Ukrainian women’s team also enjoyed success, securing 2nd place in the team standings with 5 medals (1 silver and 4 bronze). Oleksandra Malkova, representing Lviv, competed in the 61 kg weight category and finished 5th in the bronze final.
