
The World Wrestling Championships for athletes under 20 have concluded in Bratislava, with competitors from Lviv region delivering strong performances. The best result was achieved by Ivan Zalisko, who claimed bronze in the freestyle wrestling tournament in the up to 74 kg weight category. This was reported by the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Four wrestlers represented Lviv region at the world championships: Ivan Zalisko, Yehor Horokh, Kamilla Pihor and Albina Klefas. Of them, it was Zalisko who managed to reach the podium of honour.
On his way to the bronze medal, Ivan defeated opponents from Armenia and India. In the semi-final bout he lost to a wrestler from Japan, but in the contest for third place he managed to turn the tide of the match: trailing 4:5, he executed a successful move and pinned his opponent to the mat.
In preparation for the World Championships, the athlete was coached by his personal trainers, Vitalii Borysenko and Rostyslav Pervachuk. The Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration congratulated Ivan Zalisko and his coaches on their achievement.
