
Teams from Stryi Gymnasium No. 10 claimed gold and silver medals at the national final of the “Plich-o-plich All-Ukrainian School Leagues” volleyball project among pupils in Years 5–9, which took place in Kyiv.
Two teams from Stryi reached the national finals after progressing from the school stage through the territorial, district and regional stages, consistently defeating their opponents.
The boys’ team of Stryi Gymnasium No. 10 took 1st place, beating their rivals from Starovyzhivskyi Lyceum in Volyn region in the final match.
In the decisive match, the girls’ team faced the team from Poltava Lyceum No. 14 “Zdorov`ya”. In this match, the Stryi side were defeated and became silver medallists of the school leagues.
The Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Roman Khimyak, also reported that Lviv region hosted the all-Ukrainian stage of the school rugby-5 leagues. The competition took place at the Yunist stadium and brought together 23 teams from different regions of Ukraine.
The top three in rugby-5 included schoolchildren from the capital, Odesa region and Lutsk. Lviv region was represented in the all-Ukrainian final by the team of the Cherniv Educational Institution of General Secondary Education I–III degrees named after Taras Shevchenko of the Mostyska community, which took fourth place.
