In Lviv Region, the final competitions of the regional stage of the “Side by Side Nationwide School Leagues” basketball project for girls in grades 9-11 took place. This tournament was held from 21 to 23 April at the regional youth sports school.
Seven teams from the districts of Lviv Region and Lviv, who won in the previous stages of the competition, participated. These teams represented the following educational institutions: ZSSO 1-3 levels No. 1 named after Taras Matviiv in Zhydachiv, Lyceum “Prosvita” LMR, Sosnivskyi Lyceum, Lyceum No. 2 in Mostyska, Kamianka-Buzka OZSSO I-III degrees No. 2, Lyceum No. 2 in Drohobych, Khyrivskyi Lyceum, and Pomoriany ZSSO.
The winners were: Lyceum “Prosvita” took first place, ZSSO named after Taras Matviiv from Zhydachiv secured second place, and Kamianka-Buzka OZSSO took third place.
Thanks to their victory, the schoolgirls from Lviv Region will participate in the nationwide stage of the project. A week ago, the best basketball players among the boys were also determined. In this stage, the region was represented by the students of SZSH No. 1 of the Lviv City Council.
“The students of Lviv Region are ready for new achievements at the nationwide level,” stated Roman Khimyak, Director of the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
