Military archers representing the Lviv region delivered a successful performance at the World Military Archery Championships held under the auspices of CISM. The competition brought together 214 athletes from 17 countries, including 29 para-archers. The national team of the Armed Forces of Ukraine included 9 servicemen from the Training and Sports Base for Summer Sports of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in Lviv.
Fifteen sets of medals were contested at the tournament, and the team of the Armed Forces of Ukraine competed for honours in eight disciplines. Veronika Marchenko and Oleh Soroka became world champions in the Double Recurve Team discipline (a team of two athletes in recurve archery: an athlete without disability and a para-athlete), finishing ahead of their rivals from France.
In the women's team recurve event, Veronika Marchenko, Dzvenyslava Chernyk and Solomiia Hnyp claimed silver medals, losing out in the final to the French national team. In the individual women's recurve competition, Solomiia Hnyp took bronze.
Among women para-athletes, the gold medal was won by Inna Korolenko, who set a world record at the CISM archery competition with a score of 512 points.
In addition, with an individual score of 675 points, Veronika Marchenko, and the women's team with a total of 1968 points, set new CISM archery world records, surpassing the previous achievements held by Russian athletes in 2024. Another record in recurve archery in the mixed team event was broken by the French team, meaning that none of the previous Russian records remain in force.
Special recognition was given to the work of the Ukrainian team's coaches — Mariia Havelko, Svitlana Koliadintseva and Nazarii Kuzyk, who prepared the athletes for a successful performance on the world stage.
