The third season of the national project “Shoulder to Shoulder All-Ukrainian School Leagues” has started in the Lviv region.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, over 40,000 students from 757 secondary education institutions in the region will participate in the competitions. The project includes competitions in 12 sports and 28 categories and will be conducted in five stages – from local to national level, which will last until June 2026.
“This is a national-level project – primarily about sports competitions, so every community must ensure basic opportunities for students’ participation. This involves not only sports infrastructure but also proper organization, coordination, and support from local authorities to ensure every child has equal access to participate in the competitions”, said Ivan Sobko, deputy head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Currently, Lviv Region ranks second in Ukraine by the number of registered teams. The most active are the city of Lviv, Lviv, and Sambir districts. This initiative remains an important tool for the development of school sports and the support of the physical and mental health of children and youth in the region.
