Around 500 cyclists from different regions of Ukraine on Sunday, 27 September, lined up at the start of the traditional “Lviv Hundred” cycle ride. The participants covered a distance of 100 kilometres.
Alongside amateurs and seasoned athletes, Ukrainian veterans, serving military personnel, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi and Lviv Regional Council deputy Severyn Khobzei also rode the course.
“This is my first ‘Lviv Hundred’, and the feeling is incredible. I am especially proud to be covering the kilometres shoulder to shoulder with our defenders and veterans. Sport is not only about seconds or awards. It is about character, health and quality of life. We want active exercise to be accessible to everyone in Lviv region: to children in communities, to veterans, to people with disabilities, and to those who decide to get on a bicycle for the first time at 40 or 60 years of age. The Lviv Regional State Administration will continue to invest systematically in sports infrastructure and barrier-free spaces for active leisure,” said Maksym Kozytskyi.
The ride was organised by the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, the regional cycling federation and the “Lviv Cycling Club”.
All charitable contributions made by participants of the “Lviv Hundred” will be directed to support units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
