Almost a thousand karate fighters competed in Lviv region at the “BANDERA CUP” tournament
The All-Ukrainian karate tournament “BANDERA CUP” (UKF Premier League) was held on April 27-28 in the universal sports hall of the summer sports training base of the Ministry of Defense.
The sporting event brought together an incredible number of talented karate fighters – 967 participants from 32 clubs from all over Ukraine. These are representatives of 13 regions. Karate fighters competed in four age categories: children under 14, cadets, juniors and adults.
The first team place was taken by a club from Chernivtsi Oblast, Leader CHOMGO, which won 16 gold, 7 silver and 14 bronze medals.
The second place was taken by the team from Kyiv region, NGO SC Champion, with 10 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals.
The third place was taken by the club from Kyiv, Shogun MGO, which won 9 gold, 6 silver and 14 bronze medals.
The Lviv club KSC Union is in fourth place, with 7 gold, 8 silver and 17 bronze medals.

Gold medals won by:
Maksym Zhayvoronok, Anna Vashchyshyn, Sofia Koshel, Solomiia Voloshyn, Maksym Kravchuk, Anna Motalo, and Oleh Ovras.
Silver medals were won by:
Maksym Tarnasky, Taron Mglamyan, Maksym Yatseiko, Daryna Barykina, Nazar Sokha, Markiyan Kryvishyn, Oleksandr Borys, Abu Bassal Ahmad.
Bronze medals were won by:
Sofia Kulba, Demian Zvarych, Vadym Lesniak, Margarita Sydorska, Diana Popova, Pavlo Senkiv, Veronika Stanovska, Iryna Barvinska, Sofia Polishchak, Vladyslav Voronin, Yaryna Zubach, Yulia Krot, Maksym Stetsiv, Bohdan Reshevets, Khrystyna Stanovska, Roman Mayorchak, and Oleh Gerus.
“Karate in Lviv region is one of the most popular sports, the number of clubs and sections has long since surpassed the 100 mark. It is at the Ivan Bobersky Lviv University of Physical Culture that professional karate coaches are trained. And the name of Stanislav Horuna, bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympic Games, will remain forever inscribed in golden letters in the history of sports in Lviv region,” adds Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

It should be added that the organizers, the Union Club, raised more than 100 thousand hryvnias for entrance tickets and participation in a sparring session with the leading athletes of the region, who are winners of the European and World Championships, Premier Leagues and Series A. These funds were donated to the Samaila Foundation and Esculab charitable organizations that support the needs of the Defense Forces.
