Melaniia Matiukha, a pupil of Lviv Sports Professional College of Lviv Regional Council, won the silver medal at the Ukrainian Judo Championship among boys and girls under 15 and became the country’s vice-champion.
The U15 competition took place on 18–19 September in Lutsk. More than 500 young judokas took to the tatami, competing in 17 weight categories. Melaniia performed successfully in the under 63 kg weight category and finished in second place.
In addition to her, other representatives of Lviv Sports Professional College also competed at the Championship. Maksym Dzeryn, in the over 73 kg category, stopped just short of the podium and finished 5th, while Samila Zakhar, in the under 42 kg category, concluded his performance in 7th place.
“Melaniia Matiukha took second place and earned the title of vice-champion of Ukraine. We congratulate Melaniia and her coach, Vladyslav Drebot, on the silver medal! We wish the athletes new competitions, victories and even stronger performances,” noted Lviv Sports Professional College.
The U15 Ukrainian Judo Championship was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the Judo Federation of Ukraine and is part of the Federation’s official calendar.
