In Bulgaria, today, November 7, the European Kyokushinkai Karate Championship among youth, juniors, young men in the divisions of kumite, kata, and team kata ends. 502 athletes from 22 countries competed for awards at the championship.
The national team of Ukraine was represented by 79 athletes, including 34 athletes from the Lviv region. Our region was represented at the competition by athletes from the Lviv Regional Kyokushinkai Karate Federation and the Kanku Kyokushinkai Karate Sports Club.
According to the results of the competition, the national team took the second overall team place, having won 40 medals: 8 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze. In particular, 21 awards were won by athletes from Lviv Oblast.
Anastasia Pryshlyak managed to win the highest step of the pedestal twice. The athlete became the champion in the sections of kumite and kata among youth in the weight category up to 50 kg. Yordana Zhdaniuk also won the title of European champion in the category of kata among young men. She also became a silver medalist in kumite in the 50 kg weight category.
Victoria Yatsiv also became the vice-champion in the kata section among juniors, and Maryana Chaban among the youth in kumite and kata.
Anastasia Pryshlyak, Maryana Chaban and Oleksandr Petrenko won silver for Ukraine in the team kata among youth. Olga Kolodiy, Anastasia Kovalchuk, Yordana Zhdaniuk and Elizaveta Adamchuk are among the juniors in the team.
Roman Mazurky, Viktoriya Yatsiv, and Anna Kravchuk, representatives of the Lviv Oblast, won bronze in the team kata among juniors. The third step of the podium was also taken by Bohdan Spodaryk in the kumite section among cadets, Danylo Skrovach in the kumite section among cadets, Ivanna Titska in the kumite section among female cadets, Volodymyr Odintsov in the kumite section among youth, Andriana Chaban in the kumite section among youth, Olga Prodius in the section kumite among young people up to 60 kg.
Oleksandr Petrenko won two bronze medals – in the kumite section among youth up to 70 kg and in the kata section. Maksym Gvozdetsky won bronze in the kumite section among young men up to 50 kg, and Yaroslav Pulye in the kata section among juniors up to 60 kg. Bronze was also chosen by Mark Burgess in the kumite division among young men up to 75 kg.
