On Sunday, July 16, amateur cycling races Gran Fondo will be held in Lviv region. 285 participants have already registered for the event.
The maximum limit set by the organizers this year is 300 cyclists. Races are organized by the Lviv Bicycle Club with the support of the Department of Youth and Sports of Lviv OVA.
Cyclists will start in Komarno at 11:00 a.m. and finish in Skhidnytsia. The length of the route is 85 kilometers. Traffic will be limited on the route. Cyclists will be accompanied by patrol officers and medics.
“Cycling races in the Gran Fondo format are popular in many countries of the world. In our region, this bicycle marathon will be held for the seventh time. Last year, it was possible to collect 100,000 hryvnias for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This year’s marathon will also have a charitable component, and most of the funds from the starting fees will be transferred to the needs of our military,” says the head of the youth and sports department of Lviv OVA Roman Khimyak.
We will remind you that Gran Fondo is a cycling race format originally from Italy. One of the main features of the race is the carefully planned and scenic routes that pass through scenic areas, mountain passes and attractive tourist spots. At the same time, the organizers motivate the participants to set themselves the goal not to compete with others, but to set personal challenges for themselves and to get satisfaction from achieving their own goals.
