Lviv’s Oleksandr Hrytsiv successfully defended his WBC Francophone world champion title in the weight category up to 101.6 kg.
Lviv Regional State Administration Head Maksym Kozytskyi stated that this victory has brought the athlete closer to a full-fledged championship bout under the WBC version. The fight took place in Lviv during a charity evening of professional boxing, combining sport and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the main event, Oleksandr defeated his opponent from Kremenchuk, Serhii Radchenko, in the first round.
Kozytskyi emphasized that Oleksandr Hrytsiv is a product of the Lviv Regional School of Higher Sports Mastery, which shapes the boxing elite of the country.
The evening was also successful for young athletes: Lviv’s Roman Havryliak won the Ukrainian champion title in the welterweight category. Victories were also achieved by representatives of Lviv region Daniil Zamorilo, Oleh Hichva, Mykhailo Skrypka, and Oleh Vityk, who continue their training at Regional Olympic Reserve School No. 2.
“These results are proof of the systematic and quality work in the development of boxing in Lviv region. Thank you to the athletes and coaches for their character, endurance, and daily work. Supporting boxing in the region is our conscious and long-term choice”, said Maksym Kozytskyi.
