
Oleksandra Khomenets won a bronze medal at the MUHAMET MALO tournament in Albania
The MUHAMET MALO ranking competitions for three types of wrestling began on February 26 and will last until March 2. They will be an important stage for wrestlers ahead of the European Championship.
Successes of Ukrainian women wrestlers
The tournament brought together 379 athletes from 29 countries. The Ukrainian team is represented by 13 people, including two representatives from Lviv region:
- Oleksandra Khomenets, competing in the 55 kg weight category
- Alla Belinska – competing in the 72 kg weight category
On the way to the medal, Oleksandra Khomenets defeated Bulgarian Irena Binkova in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she lost to opponent from Japan, Haruni Okuno, but earned a chance to fight for bronze. In the match for third place, the wrestler from Truskavets defeated Carla Gonzalez from Canada.
“Oleksandra Khomenets is a graduate of the Lviv Professional College of Sports. She is coached by Skobelskyi Orest and Byrka Andriy,” noted Roman Khimyak, head of the department of youth and sports of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Today, Alla Belinska begins her fight for medals in the weight category up to 72 kg.
