
Olha Tsymko became a silver medalist at the U23 European Judo Championships.
The 22-year-old athlete from the Lviv region, a trainee of the Lviv Regional Council’s School of Higher Sportsmanship, under the guidance of Vladyslav Drebota, won a silver medal at the U23 European Judo Championships held in Chisinau from October 31 to November 1. Olha demonstrated confident fighting in the under 70 kg weight category, defeating opponents from Poland, Germany, and Croatia, and in the semifinals, she overcame Hungarian Rebeka Sotzko.
In the final, Tsymko faced Swedish Ingrid Nilsson and after a tense battle, secured the silver award. “On the eve of the competition, Olha received a cash prize from the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism for her gold medal at the Ukrainian Championships. Now she awaits a new award — for the silver at the European Championships, the athlete will receive 30,000 hryvnias, and her coach 15,000,” — noted Roman Khimiak, director of the Lviv Regional Military Administration’s Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism.
Another representative from Lviv, Mykola Hrybik, ended his participation after his first match, losing to the future bronze medalist from Georgia.
