Lviv Para-athletes Win Silver at World Curling Championship

The World Curling Championship for athletes with hearing impairments is being held in Minneapolis, USA, from April 22 to May 4. A total of 84 participants from 11 countries are taking part in the competition.

Achievements of Lviv Athletes

The athletes representing the Lviv region are: Roman Yefanov, Olexander Hac, Tetiana Hlyvka, Mykhailo Pleskanka, Kateryna Yakymets, and Margarita Oprya.

In the double-mixed event (playing in pairs), Mykhailo Pleskanka and Kateryna Yakymets won silver, losing to the team from South Korea.

Women’s team competitions begin today, in which our para-athletes will also participate.

“All the para-athletes from the Lviv region competing at the World Championship are winners and medalists of the XX Winter Deaflympics in curling. Kateryna Yakymets, Margarita Oprya, Tetiana Hlyvka, and Mykhailo Pleskanka are Paralympic champions, while Olexander Hac and Roman Yefanov are bronze medalists,” noted the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of Lviv Regional State Administration.
