
Pavlo Bal from Khorosnytsia became a silver medallist at the Paralympic Games in Italy, where the Ukrainian team secured second place in the mixed relay cross-country skiing event. Together with him, representing Team Ukraine, were Taras Rad, Oleksandra Kononova, and Liudmyla Liashenko. This was reported by Lviv ODA Sport.
The top three were led by the USA with a time of 23:24.2, followed by Ukraine at 23:36.7, and China at 23:56.5. Pavlo represents the Lviv Regional Centre “Invasport”, where he is coached by Anatoliy Zavediiev.
The director of the sports department of Lviv OVA, Roman Khimiak, emphasised that Pavlo Bal is the first Ukrainian to have won medals in both the Winter and Summer Paralympic Games. In 2024, he secured a bronze in para-cycling at the Summer Games in Paris.
Pavlo is the hero of the project ‘Return’, which tells the stories of medallists and participants in international competitions among veterans. He lives in Solonka with his wife and children.
