Pavlo Bal – World Champion in Ski Racing

The World Championships in ski racing for individuals with musculoskeletal impairments took place from February 11 to 15 in the Italian city of Toblach. Athletes from 20 countries competed for awards. The Ukrainian team includes 26 para-athletes.

Today, Ukrainians won gold in the mixed relay, marking the first award for our team at these competitions.

The world champions are:

  • 🥇Oleksandra Kononova
  • 🥇Oleksandr Alexik
  • 🥇Liudmyla Liashenko

“Pavlo Bal is a unique athlete, as he competes in both winter and summer sports. He is a winner and medalist at world championships in ski racing and biathlon in individual and team events, a multiple medalist at World Cup stages and national championships in Ukraine. In the summer, Pavlo Bal became a bronze medalist at the Paralympics in road handbiking, and this award was historic for Ukraine, as no one had ever won medals in this discipline before,” recalls the head of the youth and sports department of Lviv Regional State Administration, Roman Khimyak.

Another athlete from the Lviv region, Vasyl Kravchuk, finished fourth in the open relay as part of the Ukrainian team.

Pavlo Bal and Vasyl Kravchuk represent the Lviv Regional Center “Invasport”. Their coach in ski racing and biathlon is Anatoly Zavyedyev.
