Winners of the Ukrainian Amputee Football Championship to Receive 2 Million UAH Prize

The football team “Pokrova-AMP”, consisting of veterans and civilians with amputations or functional impairments of one limb, won the first Ukrainian Amputee Football Championship of 2025. For this victory, the Lviv City Council decided to award the team a prize of 2 million hryvnias.

The Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, emphasized the importance of this team, stating:

“This is a team that does unique work, demonstrating their resilience. They prove that nothing is impossible.”

According to the director of the Lviv City Sports Office, Anton Nikulin, the prize will be distributed among the players and coaching staff: each player will receive 50,000 hryvnias. This decision is aimed at supporting the development of adaptive sports and motivating veterans.

The “Pokrova-AMP” team, founded by the Salesian Fathers of St. John Bosco, became champions by scoring 58 goals without conceding any. One of the team’s players was named the top scorer of the tournament. “Pokrova-AMP” is also the base team of the national Ukrainian amputee football team, which is significant for the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans.
