Renowned veteran cyclist Hennadii Pecheniuk has died

In the Novyi Rozdil community, Hennadii Pecheniuk has passed away — a well-known amateur cyclist for whom the bicycle and sport were an inseparable part of everyday life. His death was announced by the Novyi Rozdil City Council.

For many residents of the community, Hennadii Pecheniuk became an example of strength of character, endurance and active longevity. Even at over 80 years of age, he continued to train, line up at the start of races and represent the Novyi Rozdil community and Ukraine at various tournaments.

Hennadii Petrovych’s sporting achievements include a silver medal at the UCI Gran Fondo Amateur World Championships held in Bosnia in 2021, victories at the All-Ukrainian Veterans Games in the 80+ age category, first place in the national ranking of the Ukrainian Amateur Tour, as well as many other successful starts.

The sportsman will be remembered for his boundless energy, love of cycling and constant desire to move forward regardless of age. Through his career he demonstrated that age is no obstacle to development, new achievements and an active lifestyle.

The Novyi Rozdil City Council expressed its condolences to his family, friends, fellow athletes and everyone who knew Hennadii Pecheniuk, stressing that the bright memory of him and his achievements will forever remain a part of the community’s history.
