About 200 participants from 15 regions of Ukraine will compete for awards in Lviv.
Tomorrow, December 9, the traditional 21st All-Ukrainian competitions in weightlifting in memory of Professor Yuri Oleksiyovych Reznikov “Guard’s Dash” will start in the universal hall of the Training and Sports Base for Summer Sports of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Yuriy Reznikov was a master of sports, vice-rector for educational work and head of the department of pedagogy and psychology of the Lviv State Institute of Physical Culture, professor of the department of theory and organization of physical training of troops at the National Academy of Ground Forces, long-term head of the Lviv Regional Federation of Acrobatics. Under his leadership, the first curricula and training programs for officers specializing in physical training were developed. He was the co-editor of the first textbook in the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Theory and organization of physical training of troops”.
After the death of Yury Oleksiyovych, on the initiative of cadets – masters of sports of Ukraine of international class in kettlebell sports Andriy Yaremus, Volodymyr Andreychuk and Igor Romaniv, the first open kettlebell tournament was held in November 2001 as a sign of honor. Since 2007, competitions have been included in the Unified calendar plan of physical culture, health and sports events of Ukraine. So this year’s tournament is already the 21st in history.
Individual-team competitions will be held among men in seven weight categories and among women in four weight categories. The weight of kettlebells for men is 24 kg, for women – 16 kg. The age of athletes is unlimited.
About 200 participants from 15 regions of Ukraine, including Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Rivne, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Volyn, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Volyn, Ternopil, and Lviv regions, will compete for awards in Lviv.
The competition is managed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the Union of Kettlebell Sports of Ukraine, the organization and conduct of the competition is carried out by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Oblast, the Lviv Regional Branch of the Union of Kettlebell Sports of Ukraine and the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny.
We will remind, last year the participants of the jubilee all-Ukrainian weightlifting competitions were welcomed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, son of Yuriy, Oleksiy Reznikov.
