
Lviv region representative Dmytro Kurochkin has become the Ukrainian champion in orienteering in the rogaining (24-hour) discipline, held in the village of Berehomet in the Chernivtsi region. This was reported by the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
The competition took place from 22 to 25 May in the format of an open Ukrainian championship. Soldier Dmytro Kurochkin, who represents Lviv region, competed as part of the Fenix Team Ukraine squad.
The team scored 185 points, covered 102 kilometres and a total of 6,000 metres of elevation gain. This result was the best among all the participants of the championship and secured Fenix Team Ukraine the right to compete at the European rogaining championship, scheduled for 27–28 June in the Czech Republic.
It is noted that Dmytro Kurochkin is a representative of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy.
