The team consisted of 36 athletes from Lviv region. They won 6 gold, 1 silver and 8 bronze medals.
The Ukrainian Sambo Championships among juniors, seniors and cadets took place in Chernivtsi from 13 to 19 August. The competition was attended by 600 leading athletes from all regions.
As part of the regional team, 36 athletes from Lviv region competed for medals. They competed in three age categories and won 15 awards – 6 gold, 1 silver and 8 bronze medals:
- 1st place in combat sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 88 kg – Danylo Haletskyi (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Roman Shmilo, Pavlo Shmilo).
- 1st place in the sports sambo section among cadets (born in 2008-2010) up to 49 kg – Rostyslav Gorichy (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Oleg Gasyuk, Roman Shmilo).
- 1st place in the combat sambo section among boys (born in 2006-2008) up to 58 kg – Rostyslav Kolodii (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Fedir Zagura).
- 1st place in the combat sambo section among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 58 kg – Mykhailo Lishchynskyi (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Semen Sudarikov, Roman Shmilo).
- 1st place in combat sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 71 kg – Roman Maksymovych (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Roman Shmilo, Semen Sudarikov).
- 1st place in the section of sports sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 88 kg – Yaroslav Mykhaliuk (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Roman Shmilo, Semen Sudarikov).
- 2nd place in the section of sports sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 65 kg – Alevtina Buha (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Fedir Zagura).
- 3rd place in the section of sports sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 71 kg – Danylo Grabovetskyi (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Fedir Zagura).
- 3rd place in the section of sports sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 64 kg – Andriy Kaminsky (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Fedir Zagura).
- 3rd place in the section of sports sambo among juniors (born in 2004-2006) up to 88 kg – Vladyslav Kotsur (a pupil of the Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Fedir Zagura).
- 3rd place in the sports sambo division among cadets (born in 2008-2010) up to 65 kg – Yelyzaveta Yeliashova (a pupil of the Olympia Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Andrii Melnyk).
- 3rd place in combat sambo among boys (born in 2006-2008) up to 79 kg – Vadym Kuliev (a pupil of the Olimpiya Sports School, coach: Petro Shmotolokha).
- 3rd place in the section of sports sambo among cadets (born in 2008-2010) over 88 kg – Andrii Loik (a pupil of the Olimpiya Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Andrii, Roman Melnyk).
- 3rd place in the section of sports sambo among cadets (born in 2008-2010) up to 53 kg – Maksym Pohrebniak (a pupil of the Olimpiya Children and Youth Sports School, coach: Araz Tuvakov).
- 3rd place in the sports sambo section among cadets (born in 2008-2010) up to 42 kg – Dmytro Tsymbaliuk (a pupil of the Olimpiya Children and Youth Sports School, coaches: Andrii Melnyk, Roman Yunak).
It should be added that the team of Lviv region took third place among juniors.
“The purpose of this competition was not only to identify the strongest sambo wrestlers in the country, but also to form the national sambo team for the 2024 World Championships. The team included five athletes from Lviv region: Rostyslav Horychyi, Yaroslav Mykhaliuk, Mykhailo Lishchynskyi, Roman Maksymovych, and Danylo Haletskyi,” says Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
