At the WAKO Kickboxing World Cup, held from 27 to 30 August in Budapest, athletes from Lviv Region won three medals. The tournament brought together 3,062 participants from 47 countries, representing 428 teams.
Lviv Region was represented at the competition by five kickboxers. They achieved the following results:
- Andrii Mochurad — 1st place, FULL CONTACT -63 kg;
- Oleksandr Boltyshev — 3rd place, LIGHT CONTACT -69 kg;
- Snizhana Vinnychenko — 3rd place, K-1 -48 kg.
Another three representatives of the region stopped just short of the podium, finishing fifth in their respective disciplines:
- Oleksandr Boltyshev — 5th place, POINT FIGHTING -69 kg;
- Anastasiia Yavorska — 5th place, LIGHT CONTACT -55 kg;
- Aliiev Sadai — 5th place, K-1 -60 kg.
According to Roman Khimyak, Director of the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, this World Cup was historic for Ukrainian WAKO kickboxing, as the Ukrainian national team took first place in the overall team standings for the first time. The official highlighted the significant contribution of Lviv Region athletes to this success and congratulated them and their coaches on the results achieved.
