The European Nordic Walking Championship took place on June 13-14 in Tirano, Italy. More than 20 athletes from various regions represented Ukraine in different age categories. Six athletes from the Lviv region competed.
Awards for representatives from Lviv: Iryna Oliynyk — 1st place in the women’s absolute category at the 5 km distance. Serhiy Hulidov — 1st place in the 60+ age category, 5 km distance; Serhiy Bilyi — 2nd place in the 70+ age category, 5 km distance. Ihor Buhryn — 3rd place in the 55+ age category, 20 km distance.
Also, our women’s relay team took 1st place, 4×2 km, consisting of: Iryna Oliynyk (Lviv region), Hanna Kukhar (Khmelnytskyi region), Tetyana Ragozina (Poltava region), Tetyana Nazarova (Pokrovsk, currently living in Germany).
“Congratulations to the winners and medalists. Iryna Oliynyk, Deputy Director of the Lviv Regional Center for Population’s Physical Health ‘Sport for All’, won two gold medals. It is delightful and significant when a person not only organizes competitions but also personally demonstrates how sports can be an important and driving part of life,” noted the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
