Striy native Nazar Domchak makes Champions League debut for Prague Slavia

Ukrainian goalkeeper from Stryi Nazar Domchak has played his debut match in the Champions League for Prague side Slavia. In the game against English club Arsenal, he saved his team three times, keeping a clean sheet against their opponents.

In Stryi, they note that this is currently the highest professional achievement among the graduates of local club Skala. It was there that Nazar began playing football at the age of 7, training at the FC Skala branch.

Up to the sixth form, Domchak studied at Stryi Gymnasium No. 10, after which he continued his education and football training at the Karpaty football academy. He played for the Lviv club until 2026.

The goalkeeper’s transfer to the reigning champions of the Czech Republic set a record for FC Karpaty — the transfer deal worth five million euros became the most expensive in the Lviv club’s history.

The Stryi community points out that Nazar Domchak’s achievement is a particular source of pride for the town and for the entire regional football community. In 2024, during one of the official ceremonies, Mayor Oleh Kanivets and First Deputy Mykola Dmytryshyn congratulated the goalkeeper on being recognised as the best keeper in the U-17 age category.
