The President of Ukraine has awarded named scholarships to children with disabilities who have achieved strong results at national sports competitions, as well as to their coaches. Among those recognised are three young athletes from Lviv region and a para swimming coach. They will receive payments for a year in the amount of two subsistence minimums. The relevant decree No.1042/2026 has been published on the website of the President of Ukraine.
The Presidential scholarships of Ukraine have been awarded to:
- Maksym Orach — bronze medallist at national para swimming competitions;
- Vadym Strilko — champion of national para swimming competitions;
- Pavlo Tokariev — champion of national football competitions;
- Olena Danilova — para swimming coach of Maksym Orach.
All the athletes and the coach represent the Halychyna sports school for children and young people with disabilities, where, according to the Lviv Regional Military Administration, around 170 children train in 11 sports.
As noted in the announcement, the Presidential scholarships of Ukraine are granted in accordance with the decree of 30 July 2019 No.561/2019. These payments are intended to support children with disabilities who demonstrate high sporting achievements at national level, as well as to acknowledge the work of their coaches.
