
From February 14 to 16, the open championships of the Lviv region in kickboxing and hand-to-hand combat were held at the Boberskyi Youth Sports School. Around four hundred athletes from various regions of Ukraine participated, including Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Mykolaiv, and Zakarpattia regions, and the city of Kyiv.
Lviv won first place in both sports. From Drohobych, athletes from the Boberskyi Youth Sports School and clubs ‘Coliseum’, ‘Typhoon’, ‘Eney’, and ‘Antei’ participated.
- Distinguished guests: community leadership, representatives of the Lviv Regional State Administration’s Department of Youth and Sports, and Oleg Malyshkin, European boxing champion.
At the ceremonial opening, Deputy Mayor Yuriy Kushlyk welcomed the participants: ‘It is a great honor for us to host so many professional athletes.’
Over the course of three days, athletes competed in the ring and on the tatami. In the overall team ranking, the Drohobych team took second place in kickboxing.
- Boberskyi Youth Sports School: Yuriy Shakalets – 1st place light contact; Ostap Chaikovsky – 1st place light contact; other prize-winners – Eldar Orudzhov, Maksym Rybchuk, Yuriy Volynsky, Pavlo Salamaga (coach Iryna Kovalchuk).
- Oleh Ilkiv (K1-light) and Vitaliy Stakhiv (light contact) trained by Andriy Shevchuk.
- ‘Halytski Levy’: Zakhar Zvodyak – 1st place traditional forms; Kyrylo Ivanytskyi – 2nd place (managed by Denys Ivanytskyi).
- SC ‘Coliseum’: Kyrylo Prokopchuk – two first places in semi-contact and light contact (prepared by Stepan Shchudla and Olesya Koval).
- FSC ‘Typhoon’: Anna Sulym won first place in semi-contact (coach Vitaliy Shkraba).
- SC ‘Antei’: among the winners Svyatoslav Koval and Oleksandr Melnyk (light contact), as well as Nazar Hnylka and other prize-winners.
