
On 16–17 August, Lviv will host the second stage of the nationwide chess tournament “Chess Stars Cup”. The competition will gather several hundred participants from different regions of Ukraine, among whom leading chess players of the country are expected.
The tournament will take place on the premises of the LEM Station space at 57 Dmytra Vitovskoho Street. The organisers of the Lviv stage are the Chess Federation of Ukraine and the municipal institution “Children and Youth Sports School of Chess ‘Debut'”.
Among the registered participants are well-known Ukrainian grandmasters, as well as European champion Roman Dehtiariov. The winners of the tournament will receive cash prizes.
The competition programme includes two separate tournaments:
- 16 August, Sunday — blitz chess competition (lightning chess);
- 17 August, Monday — rapid chess competition (rapid chess).
You can register to take part in the “Chess Stars Cup” until 21:00 on 15 August. Open and women's tournaments are planned. Participation without a tournament fee is allowed for chess players with a FIDE rapid or blitz rating of 2400 and above, women chess players with a FIDE rating of 2150 and above, as well as international grandmasters.
The first stage of the project has already taken place in Dnipro. After the Lviv stage, the “Chess Stars Cup” tournament series will continue in the cities of Chernivtsi, Rivne and Lutsk. The contact person for the Lviv stage is the director of the DYUSSh “Debut”, Volodymyr Hrabinskyi.
