International Seminar on Crutch Football in Lviv

An International Seminar on Crutch Football took place in the Lviv region.

From July 15 to 18, at the Salesian center “Bosko” in Lviv, a unique educational event was held — the International Seminar, which gathered over 40 representatives of the clubs participating in the Strong League. This event, initiated by the Ukrainian Football Association and the UAF Foundation, became not just an educational platform but a true symbol of the unity of the community that changes perceptions of the possibilities and role of adaptive sports.

The main speakers of the seminar were experts from Turkey — a country whose national amputee football team is the 2022 World Champion (October 7-17, Istanbul; final: Turkey – Angola 4:1) — the first in history world gold medal for Turkey. European Champion 2024 — final: Turkey – Spain 3:0. And for the first time in history, it topped the WAFF world ranking (World Amputee Football Federation).

Over four days, participants intensely deepened their knowledge and skills. The program covered: 12 hours of theory: the science of training, technical and tactical preparation; 9 hours of practice: physical exercises, work on the field, modeling game situations. In total, 21 hours of professional training, which became an important step for the development of amputee football in Ukraine.

“Today, the Ukrainian Football Association is one of the few examples in the veteran sports field that works systematically and proactively: not only with short-term tasks ‘for the season’, but with a clear strategy of development, scaling, and real impact. And most importantly — it is a professional team that understands not only the form but the essence of the process”, — notes the Director of the Department of Sports, Youth, and Tourism Roman Khimyak.

As part of the visit, the Turkish delegation visited the exhibition of the legendary painting by Ilya Repin “The Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan of Turkey”, displayed in ZAG.
