The final of the Ukrainian Water Polo Cup among women's and men's teams has concluded at the SCA pool in Lviv. Over three days, from 3 to 5 July, the country's leading clubs competed for one of the main national trophies.
This year, the Ukrainian Cup among women was won by the Kyiv City Team. In the men's tournament, the main trophy was claimed by the Lviv side — WPC “Dynamo”.
On the decisive day, the women's and men's finals took place, after which the winners and medallists received their cups and medals. The awards ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Moskalenko.
“Today we saw a true contest, team spirit and powerful emotions. Competitions like this are important not only for deciding the winners — they inspire children and young people to choose sport, teach them to fight to the end and never give up,” said Andriy Moskalenko
Four teams took part in the women's Ukrainian Cup draw: the Kyiv City Team, “Dynamo-Amazonky” (Lviv), the Kharkiv Region Team and the Donetsk Region Team.
Among the men, seven sides competed for the trophy: WPC “Dynamo” (Lviv), WPC “Kharkiv” (NTU “KhPI-ShVSM”), LFKC-Aquatiko (Lviv), KIVS (Lviv), ShVSM WPC “Mariupol”, the Kharkiv Region Team and the Zakarpattia Region Team — UzhNU.
The organisers stress that Lviv has traditionally been one of the centres of water polo development in Ukraine, and hosting the Cup final once again brought together in the city the strongest women's and men's teams.
The Ukrainian Water Polo Cup is part of the official calendar of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation and each year determines the strongest clubs in the country, helping to popularise and develop this sport.
