Ukrainian cheerleaders will perform for the first time at the World Games, which run from August 7 to 17.
The World Games are akin to the Olympic Games for non-Olympic sports, where the world’s best athletes compete. On August 15-16, cheerleaders will vie for medals. Representing Ukraine will be the duo of Anastasia Maloshenko and Elizabeth Tymofieieva.
Our athletes are three-time European champions and world vice-champions. They became the first in the world to qualify for participation in the World Games in this sport. They will face competition from duos from Japan, Mexico, the USA, and other countries.
“Six athletes represent Lviv region at the XII World Games. I believe that we will welcome the cheerleaders with medals as well,” said Roman Himyak, the director of the department of sports, youth, and tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
This year’s games have set records in terms of scale and participant geography. More than 4,000 athletes from 115 countries are competing in 35 sports.
