
Maxym Hula and Polina Spyridonova won medals at the European Youth Circuit in epee fencing in Germany.
Maxym Hula became the winner in the men’s team competition in the U23 category. He participated in the team along with Maxym Mykytenko, Maxym Perchuk, and Arsenii Karapysh. For the first place, the quartet competed against the team “Ukraine 2”, which included Andrii Opanassenko, Roman Samoylov, Vladyslav Nazarevych, Andrii Polyanskyi. The final score was 45:43. Interestingly, the third place was also secured by Ukrainians. In total, 16 teams competed in this category.
In the women’s individual epee competition, two Ukrainians also fought for gold: 16-year-old Polina Spyridonova from Lviv and 18-year-old Mariia Sereda from Dnipro. Mariia won with a score of 15:12, earning Polina the silver. For both girls, these are their first personal medals in the European U-23 Circuit. A total of 160 participants from 17 countries competed in this category.
