Oleksandr Suknevych, multiple prize-winner of the Lviv regional boxing championships, died in the war with Russia

On January 6-7, 2024, the fight for the awards of the third stage of the Luge World Cup continued in Winterberg, Germany, with the participation of the national teams of Austria, Germany, Italy, Latvia, the USA, Canada, China, Romania, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine.

The best result of the national team of Ukraine (head coach Taras Hartsula) was demonstrated in the team relay, taking a high fifth place. As part of the relay team, the following competed: single sled – Olena Stetskiv (Lviv region), Andriy Mandziy (Ternopil region); two-seater sled – Ihor Goy (Ternopil region) / Nazarii Kachmar (Lviv region); Natasha Khitrenko / Victoria Koval (Ternopil region).

In the men’s single sled competition on the 1,324-meter track in Winterberg, Ukrainian athletes demonstrated the following results: Andrii Mandziy – 13th place, Anton Dukach (Lviv region) – 20th place, Danyil Marcynovskyi (Lviv region) – 28th place.

In single women’s sleds, Olena Stetskiv and Anna Shkret from Lviv took the 28th and 29th places, respectively, based on the results of two races.

In the competition of two-seater crews among women: Natasha Khitrenko / Viktoriya Koval – 12th place; Olena Stetskiv / Oleksandra Mokh (Lviv region) – 14th place; among men: Ihor Goy / Nazariy Kachmar – 17th place; Vadym Mykievich / Bohdan Babura (Lviv region) – 19th place; The next stage of the World Cup is planned to be held in Austria, on the track in Innsbruck.
