In Lviv Region, schools have been selected for the ‘School Match Point’ project, which introduces tennis into educational programs.
As part of the initiative, students from the selected schools will be able to learn tennis directly in physical education lessons. Among these institutions are 12 Lviv schools and 3 regional schools, including Drohobych Lyceum No. 2 and Gymnasium No. 10 named after Yevhen Konovalets. This was announced by the charity foundation of Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk.
The project involves the creation of a special educational program that makes tennis accessible to every student. Teachers undergo courses and workshops on the basics of this sport, which allows them to teach even without courts. This expands the opportunities for tennis development in the regions.
It should be noted that the development of this sport in Drohobych is overseen by the Drohobych Tennis Federation under the leadership of Andriy Luchkiv. Thanks to their efforts, the tennis section at the local Youth Sports School has been restored and several courts have been equipped for children’s training.
