Cyclist Pavlo Bal from Lviv region wins bronze for Ukraine at the Paralympic Games in the men’s cycling event

The athlete took third place in the 56.8 km road race, class H5. He became the first Ukrainian in history to win an award in this type of cycling.

Pavlo Bal finished in 1 hour 37 minutes and 03 seconds, 13 seconds ahead of his closest rival, Portuguese Luis Costa. Dutchman Mitch Valise and Frenchman Loic Vergneux took the first and second positions.

“For the 38-year-old Pavel, this is the debut Paralympic Games in cycling in his career, as he has been competing in this discipline for only two years.

The phenomenon of Bal is that he is also a successful skier. He is the 2022 World Cross-Country Skiing Champion among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders and a participant in the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing,” says Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
