
Athletes from Lviv region delivered a strong performance at the Ukrainian Canoe Sprint Championships, held in Uman from 29 July to 2 August. The region’s representatives claimed a series of gold, silver and bronze medals across various events.
Valeriia Tereta became a three-time champion of Ukraine, winning the women’s C1 over 200 m, 500 m and 5000 m.
Oleksandr Zaitsev took first place in the K2 200 m and in the mixed K4 500 m. He also finished second in the K4 500 m and twice took third place – in the K1 500 m and K2 500 m.
Volodymyr Savchyn won gold in the C2 500 m and C4 500 m, as well as silver in the C1 500 m.
Vitalii Brezitskyi became champion in the K2 1000 m, took second place in the K1 1000 m and third in the K4 200 m.
Oleksandr Brezitskyi, together with his partner, won the K2 1000 m, took silver in the K2 200 m and bronze in the K4 200 m.
Vasyl Smilka finished first in the mixed K4 500 m, second in the K4 500 m and third in the K2 500 m.
Anna Drusinova claimed gold in the K4 500 m and silver in the K4 200 m.
Sofiia Potsiurko became champion in the K4 200 m and runner-up in the K4 500 m.
Olesia Lem won gold in the C4 200 m and bronze in the C4 500 m.
Yelyzaveta Vozniuk took second place in the C1 200 m, in the mixed C2 200 m and mixed C4 500 m, and also finished third in the C1 500 m.
Vitalii Vergeles finished second on three occasions – in the C2 200 m, C4 200 m and mixed C4 500 m.
Andrii Harasiuk won two silvers – in the K4 500 m and K2 200 m, and also took bronze in the K4 200 m.
Vitalii Bratash took bronze in the K4 200 m.
Marko Antoshkiv and Illia Horlov together finished third in the C2 1000 m.
In addition to podium finishes, rowers from Lviv region showed consistently strong results, also placing 15 times fourth, 5 times fifth and 7 times sixth in various events on the programme of the Ukrainian Championships.
