Veterans Pavlo Pastukh and Andrii Tlumak compete at the “Warriors’ Cup 2026” in Lviv

The all-Ukrainian archery competition for male and female war veterans, the “Warriors’ Cup 2026”, took place at the Dynamo Stadium in Lviv on 17–18 August. More than 50 athletes from 15 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv took part in the tournament.

The competition was organised by the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration together with the Lviv Regional Archery Federation. The athletes competed at a distance of 30 metres in three open categories: recurve bow, compound bow and team events with three participants per team.

The community was represented at the tournament by war veterans Pavlo Pastukh (recurve bow) and Andrii Tlumak (compound bow). For both of them, these were their first starts at a distance of 30 metres and, according to their coaches, they delivered better-than-expected results.

“Taking part in a competition of this scale is, above all, both physical and psychological rehabilitation, with the opportunity to gain as many healthy, positive emotions as possible among comrades-in-arms and excellent mentors. And sport is the best form of adaptation for veterans, where you can always compete and strive for the highest achievements,” says Pavlo Pastukh.

The organisers and participants thanked all the veterans and service personnel who joined the tournament for their service, resilience and commitment to recovery through sport.
