The winners of the second final stage of the volleyball competition among girls in grades 9-11 within the framework of the “Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues” project were determined in the Drohobych community.
The competition took place on 3 December at Lyceum No. 16 in Drohobych. Four teams took part in the competition: Lyceum No. 2, Lyceum No. 1 named after Ivan Franko, Drohobych Scientific Lyceum named after B. Lepkyi and Rychtychi Lyceum.
The event started with a tribute to the memory of the fallen defenders and the Ukrainian national anthem.
As a result of the intense competition, the team of young athletes from Lyceum No. 1 named after Ivan Franko took third place, the team from Drohobych Scientific Lyceum named after Borys Lepkyi took silver, and the team from Lyceum No. 2 won the competition. The girls will continue to compete in the next stage of the district level competition.
The sports event also recognised the team from Rikhtytsia Lyceum, which was awarded in the Best Technical Team category.
The three winning teams were presented with certificates of appreciation and cups.
According to Oksana Sotrykhina, the “Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues” project unites active and athletic youth in the community, promotes a healthy lifestyle and instills a love of sports. The competitions also provide an opportunity for young athletes to learn from their peers and demonstrate their abilities in a particular sport.
The organisation of the competition was at a high level – for which the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the DCM expresses her gratitude to the principal of Lyceum No. 16 Natalia Tchaikovskaya, as well as the judging panel: chief judge Ivan Flyag, Svetlana Budenkevich and the judges involved in the competition.
The “Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues” continue to move through the community’s educational institutions.
