Water polo players of the Dynamo-Amazons-KDUSSH named after Yuriy Kutenko are the winners of the Super Cup of Ukraine
The Super Cup match among women’s water polo teams was held for the first time in Ukraine. It was held in Kyiv on 29 September.
The Kyiv national team and Dynamo-Amazons-KDYUSSH named after Yuriy Kutenko from Lviv region competed for the trophy. “The Amazons won a tense match with a score of 12-10.
“The first period was very difficult for us, we couldn’t get ourselves together. It was difficult to play together because the girls hadn’t met before, there was no training camp. We came, we knew we had to win, but it was hard. Then we started to get into the game,” says Anastasiia Zelenko, a player of the Amazons.
“I wouldn’t say we were very nervous. There was more excitement before the Ukrainian Cup. But this is the first Super Cup in the history of women’s water polo in our country, and I am pleased that our team won. The opponents played very well, it was an interesting match. I want to thank the girls, the team, the fans,” says Yevhen Skyba, head coach of Dynamo-Amazons-KDUSSH named after Yurii Kutenko.
“It was Dynamo-Amazons who won the Ukrainian water polo championship of the 2023-2024 season, as well as the silver medallists of the Ukrainian Cup. We congratulate the team on a successful start to the new season,” said Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
