Mountain biking is a type of cycling that involves riding off-road, usually over rough terrain, on a specially equipped mountain bike.
The Ukrainian Championship in this sport was held on April 19-20 in Pogulyanka Park. 140 participants from 14 regions competed, including 30 representatives from Lviv Oblast. The strongest were determined in the following age categories: juniors, juniors, boys, girls, junior boys, and junior girls.
The athletes competed in two disciplines: a group doubles race and an “eliminator” – a race with elimination.
“Veronika Selezniova (H. Prokopenko Children and Youth Sports School) and Eva Kubrak (Y. Kutenko Children and Youth Sports School) were the best among the athletes from Lviv region. They took fifth place among girls. Veronika Selezniova also finished seventh in the elimination race,” said Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Among all the athletes, representatives from Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia and Kyiv won the most medals.
