Yavorivska hromada wins the Lviv Oblast Youth Sports Games

This year, 18 hromadas applied for the oblast competition, with more than 1000 participants.

On 19 October, the IV Youth Sports Games of Communities among the teams of territorial communities of Lviv Oblast took place in Pustomyty. They brought together boys and girls born in 2008 and younger.

Such competitions were launched by the Lviv territorial organisation of the Kolos VFTS with the support of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Regional State Administration in 2020. Today, this is the largest project to develop physical culture and sports among schoolchildren in Lviv Oblast.

The participants determined the strongest in eight sports:

  • mini-football: 10 athletes;
  • Volleyball: 10 athletes;
  • tug of war: 7 athletes;
  • Table tennis: 1 boy + 1 girl;
  • chess: 2 participants;
  • Checkers: 1 male + 1 female;
  • arm wrestling: 1 participant – left hand, 1 participant – right hand;
  • kettlebell lifting: 1 participant.

“The Lviv Oblast Youth Games are first held in communities. Based on the results of these competitions, hromada teams are formed to take part in the regional stage. This year, 18 hromadas applied for the regional competition, with more than 1,000 participants. Only 12 of them made it to the finals,” says Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

The winners and runners-up were:

  • Tug of war: Biskovychi, Yavoriv, Borynia.
  • Volleyball: Pustomyty, Dobromyl, Skhidnytsia.
  • Mini-football: Mostyska, Biskovychi, Yavoriv.

Draughts: For the fourth year in a row, Solomiya Kunanets won, Maksym Kvasniak – Yavoriv; Spivak Yuriy, Sofia Lenevych – Turka, Ruslan Nadych, Bozhena Nadych – Borynia.

Chess: Semen Velychko, Sofia Velychko – Mykolaiv; Nazar Kalagursky, Myroslav Kuza – Pustomyty; Rakhval Mikhail, Elena Pron – Skhidnytsia.

Table tennis: Oleh Bula, Mariana Bodenchuk – Yavoriv; Denys Bonchuk, Marichka Kulikovska – Turka; Oleksandr Gorgut, Viktoria Sarakhman – Sudova Vyshnia.

Kettlebell: Mykhailyk Viktor – Borynia; Lonevskyi Ivan – Turka; Vovchanskyi Roman – Pustomyty.

Armwrestling: Ihor Sytynskyi – Dobromyl; Mykola Zagoruyko – Skhidnytsia – winners and silver medallists (left/right hand), Andrii Kurylo – Pustomyty, Dmytro Vakhovych – Khyriv.

Each of the participating teams won prizes in their respective sports, which is evidence of an uncompromising fight.

In the team competition, the athletes of the Yavorivska Hromada celebrated a confident victory, while the host team from the Pustomyty community won silver, and the Biskovetska Hromada won bronze.

Representatives of Dobromyl, Turka and Boryn were one step away from medals.

The debutants of the final competition, the team from Skhidnytsia, put up a good fight. The teams from Mykolaiv, Khyrov, Mostysk, Sudova Vyshnia and Dobrotvir performed at a high level.
