Young chess player Solomiia Svitenko crowned European rapid chess champion

Young chess player from Horodok Solomiia Svitenko has won a gold medal at the European Rapid Chess Championship, held in the Polish city of Rzeszów.

Solomiia became European champion among girls under 14. The competition brought together 750 young chess players from 32 countries, so the victory of the girl from Horodok carries particular weight both for the Horodok community and for Ukraine as a whole.

The community emphasises that Solomiia’s success is the result of her talent, hard work and the support of her family and coaches. The young athlete’s victory is described as a great source of pride for Horodok.

Solomiia Svitenko, her relatives and mentors were congratulated by representatives of the Horodok territorial community and sports bodies of Lviv region, who wished the young champion further achievements at international chess tournaments.
